A detailed report of the Municipal Administration of Greater Bombay for the year as required under Section 124 of the Bombay Municipal Corporation Act, is submitted herewith. To tackle the emergency accident, cases immediatei}r an integrated Central Ambulance Service was organised under the able guidance of the experts in the line and is expected to do good work. A separate Air Pollution Prevention Cell which was created with a view to taking long term measures to control and minimise the air pollution in Greater Bombay has continued durin!! the last year. For highlighting the expenditure of the medic::tl services and medical relief a separate health budget covering the activities under public Health and Medical Relief and Education has been shown. For effective finance mana!!ement the Performance Budget technique has been continued in the a"ministration to correlate the physical and Financial aspects of every programme, project or activity. The revised o::troi schedule duly approved by the Corporation and the State Government has helped to a large extent in improving the fina1icial position of the Corporation. The accompanying administration report spells out in detail the major achievements of the departments aimed at improving the civic services. Besides, for accomplishing the Corporate goals effectively introduction of newly developed managerial and administrative techniques in almost all facets of administration becomes imperative. Of all the management processes, those of realistic planning, programming and budgetting offer the most colprehensive example of finance as a thread running through all affairs. The administration will have to take care of their growing demands for better and more civic amenities through a sound system of financial management. Comlensurate with the rising trends of growth of population of the metropolis, the growth of demands for better civic amenities have also increased correspondingly.
